Unveiling Kris Lin's Award-Winning Design Inspired by Nature

THE WAVE, a real estate sales centre, is a design marvel by Kris Lin, a renowned designer known for his innovative and unique designs. The design, spanning an impressive 18,000 square feet, is a stunning representation of Lin's inspiration drawn from the ripple effect of a stone thrown into a river. This idea of a 'wave' seamlessly connects different spaces and functions within the centre, including the stairway, movie theatre, exhibition wall, bar counter, negotiation desk, and numerous pillars and tube wells.

The design project, which started in July 2011 and was completed in October 2011 in Tianjin, China, was not without its challenges. The original space presented irregular pillar positions and tube wells, along with asymmetric wall spaces, creating a disorderly spatial pattern. However, Lin's creative prowess turned these challenges into opportunities, resulting in a design that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

One of the standout features of THE WAVE is the suspended ceiling, crafted in the shapes of waves. This design element not only adds a unique aesthetic appeal but also embodies the central idea of the design - "one stone causes thousands of layers of waves". This concept is a testament to Lin's ability to transform a simple, everyday observation into a design that is both innovative and inspiring.

Lin's design brilliance is further evidenced by the prestigious Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award that THE WAVE won in 2013.
